Connecting the nation with the Olympic spirit and worth of sports in our lives, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, is organising “RUN FOR RIO” on Sunday in New Delhi. The honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Nerendra Modi will flag off the event to celebrate India’s participation In the Rio Olympics.
Prime Minister, Modi will also release a publication of SAI on “Indian Olympics Journey”, which will highlight exciting information on India’s Olympics accomplishments. It is the first time, when a largest ever contingent of athletes is representing India in the games.
It is expected that around 20,000 school children will be participating in the event, which will start from Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, India Gate and finish at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
In a Press Information Bureau press release, Minister of State (I/C) for Youth Affairs and Sports, Vijay Goel said that the purpose of the Run is not only to express our support and proud to our athletes, but also to connect public at large, especially children and youth, with the Olympic spirit and power of sports.
