RSS leader hacked to death in Keralas Kannur

Thiruvananthapuram: A Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) leader was hacked to death in Kerala’s Kannur on Monday while another continues to battle for his life at a hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Elanthottathil Manoj (42) and K Pramod (35) remains critical at a hospital at Thalassery.

RSS and BJP have called for a shutdown in the state on Tuesday in the wake of the incident.

Unconfirmed reports claimed that the assailants belonged to the CPI-M.

Reacting to the brutal murder, senior BJP leader Nalin Kohli said, “This is condemnable. I expect authorities to act in an impartial manner and hope guilty are apprehended.”

Notably, BJP president Amit Shah is visiting Kerala and he presided over a meeting of the BJP’s state unit on Monday.

He also sought blessings at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple and will visit the Bharatiya Sanskriti Kendra later.
