Rs 5 lakh award for any info on the missing AN-32 aircraft: IAF

The Indian Air Force on Saturday announced a cash reward of Rs 5 Lakh for anyone who can provide credible information on the missing AN-32 transport aircraft.

“Air Marshal RD Mathur, AOC-in-C, Eastern Air Command, has announced a cash award of Rs 5 lakhs for the person(s) or group who provide credible information leading to the finding of the missing AN-32 transport aircraft, ” Wing Commander, Ratnakar Singh, Defence PRO, Shillong said.

Providing further details, the IAF also released a few numbers.

” Finder may contact IAF on- 0378-3222164, 9436499477/9402077267/9402132477. IAF is using all its assets&taking help of Army,Arunachal Pradesh civil authorities&other national agencies to locate the missing AN-32 transport aircraft, ” Defence PRO, Shillong said.

On June 3, 2019, the Antonov AN-32 with 13 personnel including seven officers and six air warriors on board went missing in Arunachal Pradesh.

The AN-32 aircraft took off from Jorhat at 12.27 pm for the Menchuka advance landing ground and its last contact with the ground control was at 1 pm.

The Soviet-era aircraft was inducted in the Air Force in the 1980s and has been undergoing upgrades.

Three years ago, on July 22, 2016, an airborne AN-32 aircraft had gone missing with 29 people on board. The aircraft was travelling from Chennai to Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar when it went missing over the Bay of Bengal.
