Review meeting held on laying of gas pipeline by GAIL

Patna, Sep 2 (PTI) Top officials of the Bihar governmentand Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) today held a meeting tofasttrack execution of Phulpur to Haldia natural gas pipeline. Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh reviewed the status ofthe Bihar phase of the Phulpur-Haldia gas pipeline, dubbed as"Urja Ganga of Eastern India". The Bihar government has constituted an apex committeeunder Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to ensure executionof this project of national importance. Union minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleumand Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan had on May 25 launched thefirst phase of project work for Jagdishpur-Haldia pipelinehere. The Review meeting was attended by Principal Secretariesof Industries, Water Resources, Revenue and Land Reform, RoadConstruction, Rural Development, Forest and Environment, UrbanDevelopment, and Chairman, Bihar State Pollution ControlBoard, and Managing Director, Bihar State Industrial RegionDevelopment Authority. From GAIL (India) Limited, Ashutosh Karnatak, Director(Projects) and S M Singh, General Manager (Construction), werepresent along with other senior officials, a GAIL statementsaid here. The Chief Secretary advised the concerned departments toresolve pending issues and ensure availability of balancepermission within two weeks. It was decided to form a ‘Samadhan Committee’ headed byAdditional District Magistrate (ADM) in all districts topromptly resolve issues arising during project executions, thestatement said. The anticipated investment of the project in Bihar isapproximately Rs 2500 crore. MORE PTI SNS SUSMRJ
