A central forensic team has confirmed that the remains found in a forest near Mumbai are of Sheena Bora, who was allegedly murdered by her mother, former top media executive Indrani Mukerjea, and two others.
The tests also said that the Bora was strangulated, and then her body was set afire. According to reports, Indrani’s DNA extracted from her blood sample matched with the protein extract from Bora’s remains. The tests were confirmed by 3D imaging, which provided the conclusive proof.
From the Raigad forests, in the outskirts of Mumbai, Sheena’s skull and bone pieces were found about a couple of months ago. Indrani is lodged in a Mumbai jail. Her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai are also under custody.
Mumbai police was handling the case in its initial days, before it was given to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Indrani is the wife of top media executive Peter Mukerjea.
Sheena is suspected to have been murdered over financial and family disputes. Meanwhile, the CBI submitted a 1000-page charges-heet in the Mumbai trial court today.
