Ramadan is one of the holiest months in Islam around the world and the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, during which Muslims observe a month-long period of fasting, spiritual reflection, and charitable giving.
During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs. The month holds significance as the community believes that the holy Quaran was unveiled in this month to Prophet Muhhammad (PBUH) by Allah (SWT).
The first day of Ramadan in India is likely to be on Thursday, March 23, depending on the sighting of the new moon.
