The Rajasthan High Court adjourned a matter after an advocate appeared in a ‘baniyan’ (vest) during the video conferencing hearing.
The incident occurred on Friday when lawyer, Ravindra Kumar Paliwal, appeared before Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma during a video conference wearing a baniyan.
“Learned counsel for the petitioner was contacted through video conferencing he was found to be wearing baniyan. This court has already observed that during the pandemic where court functioning is being done through video conferencing, lawyers must appear in proper uniform,” the court said in its order.

The court adjourned the matter and asked to list the case again on May 5. Earlier in April, Justice Sharma had given instructions to High Court Bar Association urging advocates to appear dressed in their uniforms during hearings that are conducted via video-conferencing because of the nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.
