Qutub Minar Row: Delhi Court Defers Orders On Restoration of Temple In Complex

New Delhi: The Saket Court on Thursday deferred its pronouncement of order seeking worship rights for Hindus and Jains communities inside the premises of the Qutub Minar.

  • The court on Thursday deferred the matter for August 24th
  • The court reserved its order on an appeal regarding the restoration of 27 temples belonging to Hindus and Jains in the complex of Qutub Minar.
  • The Archeological Survey of India and the plaintiffs submit that they are opposing the impleadment application.
  • The main appeal claimed that the main mosque Quwwat-ul-Islam mosque inside the complex of Qutub Minar was built after destroying 27 temples belonging to Hindus and Jains.
  • No right to worship can be granted in the complex as Qutub Minar is a monument and falls under the Ancient Monuments Act.
  • The suit sought claims that the deities’ temples should be restored with the “same honor and dignity”.
