India’s north-eastern region holds some aspects of life which are missing not just from the rest of India but most of the world as well. These aspects of life include humanity, kindness & above all, serving mankind in whatever way possible.
The latest endeavour encapsulating north-east’s brilliance is this heart-warming story from Mizoram, where the unique ‘ no-shopkeeper’ shops have been set up. Each of these shops have installed a deposit box. Buyers can take whatever they wish from the shop & deposit the cost price of the item in the box.
There are several shops of this kind & these can be found just an hour away from the capital of the state, Aizawl. They line up the highway to another beautiful town called Seling. It’s locally referred to as the ‘Nghah Lou Dawr Culture Of Mizoram’ which means ‘Shop Without Shopkeepers’. These shops completely work on the principle of trust, which has gradually become a rare sight in today’s world.

Amid the deadly pandemic, this initiative becomes much more important, as it also helps citizens in effectively executing the norms of social distancing & minimal touching. Planning & execution of security measures has been relatively much better in Mizoram, than the other states. The state has seen only 142 Covid-19 cases so far & no deaths have been recorded.
Netizens couldn’t stop themselves from praising Mizoram’s people and shared that these ‘honesty shops’ even exist in developed nations like Switzerland and Germany.
