Police custody for two men accused of radicalising the youth

Mumbai, Aug 29 (PTI) A court here today remanded twopersons accused of radicalising a city resident, in thecustody of Mumbai Police till September 1. One of them, Arshid Qureshi worked as a guestrelations officer at the controversial preacher Dr ZakirNaik’s Islamic Research Foundation. Rizwan Khan, the otheraccused, is a cleric. Both were handed over to Mumbai Police by their Keralacounterparts. Mumbai Crime Branch has already arrested MohammedHaneef, a cleric from Kerala, in this case. The fourthaccused, Abdul Rashid Abdulla, a teacher, is suspected to havejoined the Middle-East terror organisation ISIS. Abdul Khan, a local resident, had filed a case withMumbai Police after his son Ashfaque left for anISIS-controlled territory with his wife and son. He wasallegedly in touch with the accused. Kerala Police had arrested Qureshi and Rizwan Khanearlier for radicalising some youths from the state. Qureshi was nabbed in a joint operation by KeralaPolice and Maharashtra ATS from Navi Mumbai on July 21,following a complaint lodged in Kochi by the brother of ayoung woman who was suspected to have joined ISIS with herhusband. Khan was apprehended from his residence at Kalyan inneighbouring Thane district on July 22. At least 21 youths from Kerala are reported missingand suspected to have joined ISIS. PTI VI AVI KRK SCPTP
