IHS Inc reported that 25.6 million phablets were sold in 2012 alone.
In 2014, noting that phablets had overtaken laptops and desktops in global sales, The New York Times said “phablets could become the dominant computing device of the future — the most popular kind of phone on the market, and perhaps the only computer many of us need.”

Phablets blow away the laptop with regard to power consumption. With a single charge, it can be used at least for a day. With laptops, the scenario is completely different and constant power loss is just another obstacle that interferes with work.

Starting a Laptop usually consumes 5-10 minutes whereas phablet need to be unlocked (if you have locked the device) and you are ready to write a note or send an email.
Moreover, when you want to convert your gadget into a book reader or movie player, a phablet is always better in terms of portability when compared with laptops.
