New Delhi: Politicos react on the ‘repeated tragic incidents’ of death by rape after the Park Street rape victim, who was brutalised inside a moving car in February 2012, died at a city hospital. The woman, who took on the police as well as the West Bengal government in her fight for justice in the case known as the ‘Park Street rape’, died of multiple organ failure early on Friday at a state-run hospital in Kolkata.
Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptulla said that it is very sad and that only punishing the culprits won’t help but mindsets need to be changed. Congress leader Ambika Soni put emphasis on punishing the rapists rather than just catching them. She said that the government should be responsible on how to tackle such situations.
