‘Paddy procurement in Punjab to begin from Oct 1’

Chandigarh, Sep 13 (PTI) Procurement of paddy in Punjabwill start from October 1, Deputy Chief Minister SukhbirSingh Badal said today. Reviewing arrangements regarding paddy procurement here,he instructed the officials that the process must in all beginby October 1. He said that special attention should be made to ensurethat the lifting gets going on the first day itself. Badal said he would closely monitor the whole process anddaily reports regarding the progress in procurement and statusupdate on the lifting should be sent to his office. He further said that per Mandi 3 shellers should beallotted and by September 20, all necessary arrangements oughtto be fully completed with the shellers being linked withallotted mandis. The Deputy Commissioners would be the nodal officersregarding the process in their respective districts, theDeputy CM said. He said that the requisite staff to ensure smooth conductof the process must reach the respective mandis a few daysbefore the commencement so as to facilitate every aspect ofthe process. PTI VJABI
