Oxygen Can Be Produced From Water Using A Device: Bengal Start up

Date:

According to the early pioneers of the innovation, a start up in West Bengal has developed a device that generates oxygen from water by tapping a switch. They claim that ‘OM Redox,’ a device developed by Solaire Projects Pvt Ltd and nurtured in the Webel-BCC&I Tech Incubation Centre, produces pure oxygen from water.
The device is more than a profound scientific advancement that produces oxygen that is 3.5 times purer than that obtained from a concentrator, according to the start-up venture’s founders Dr Soumyajit Roy and Dr Pei Liang. The Department of Biotechnology chose the device for display and launch on its 10th anniversary at the first Bio-Tech Expo 2022.
The pressure swing adsorption system for making oxygen works by liquefying air, whereas the concentrated solar method by compressing air and gets passed through a catalyst. Oxygen is produced from the air within those two processes.
Roy, a professor at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research in Kolkata, describes his technology as a substitute. He explained that their invention called pneumatically coupled water oxidation by electrocatalytic reaction, and it produces the life-saving gas from water. The machine was one of the products featured in a book celebrating 75 years of independence published by Union Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh. He alleged that the technology is invented and has been authorised by the World Health Organization and European Conformity and that the researcher couple is in talks with various agencies about the device, manufacturing and selling it.
” This device is an 8 kg pinewood box that provides oxygen by pressing a button and which operates on electricity, as well as a 3.5-hour rechargeable battery,” stated Pei Liang, a Bachelor of Medicine from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. We are currently considering the offer for manufacturing and market the oxygen-producing device. We are optimistic about the technology and pleased by its ease of use. Given the firm’s progress, the device is predicted within the next three months, according to West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation Limited (Webel) Managing Partner Sunrita Hazra.
The incubation centre, a joint initiative of Webel and the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has nurtured approximately 54 companies in the last few years, including18 institutions that are currently in the process. Kalyan Kar, the unit’s mentor, stated. He said that of the industries that completed the incubation process, 10-12 reached the commercial stage, several confronted the centre from the state’s tier II and III cities, and the participation of women innovators is also substantial.
