Hollywood’s grandest night, the 94th Academy Awards aka Oscars 2022, was held at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 27. The celebration night was attended by actors and filmmakers from across the globe.
The evening was hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes.
The event also held a moment of silence to show their solidarity towards the people of Ukraine.

The most awaited category of the night, ‘Actor in the Leading Role’ was won by Will Smith for his outstanding performance in the movie ‘King Richard’. This is the first Academy Award for Will Smith after years of contribution to the world of films. The award for the ‘Actress In a Leading Role’ was bagged by Jessica Chastain for her exemplary performance in the movie ‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye’.
However, the achievement of Will Smith was overshadowed when he slapped Chris Rock for a joke that Rock made on his wife. The dramatic encounter was observed with silence by the audience. Later while receiving the award, Will apologized for his unprecedented act.

The award for the ‘Best Picture’ was bagged by CODA, a film which showcases the struggle of a child of deaf adults played by Emilia Jones. The film delves into the everyday struggle of her to keep up the family business and her life struggles. The movie was directed by Sian Heder.
India’s chance to shine with ‘Writing With Fire’ in the Oscars this year was missed when ‘Summer of Soul’ won the award for ‘Best Documentary (Feature)’.
