Old video from J&K re-shared as recent; here’s the fact check

A video is doing rounds on social media after India scrapped Article 370 that granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The video shows India soldiers using stone pelters as a human shield.

The caption of the video read: “This is the latest video(16th August) of Jammu & Kashmir, suburbs of Srinagar where Indian Army used 4 detained Kashmiri boys as human shield to “defeat” some stone-pelters some boys in jeans raising anti India slogans and brave soldiers abusing them saying throw stones now”

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the above posts, we found them to be misleading.

Though the video is real and indeed from Jammu and Kashmir, it is actually from 2018. On putting the screengrabs of the video through Reverse Image Search, we came across a video dated June 19th, 2018 on ABP News official YouTube channel.

Hence, the above information proves that the claim attached to the video is misleading.
