Old image of BJP MP Manoj Tiwari with Imam Bukhari re-surfaces ahead of Delhi elections

Date:

The Delhi Assembly Elections are around the corner and we spotted users on social media sharing images of BJP Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari and Syed Ahmed Bukhari, the 13th royal imam of Jama Masjid.

In some posts, users claim the meet to be a recent one.

Congress’s Salman Nizami also shared the same photo on January 17 and wrote, ”Bukhari Rs 500 mei बिक गया”

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above posts and found the image to be OLD.

On putting keywords–‘Manoj Tiwari, ‘Bukhari’ on Google, we found a video from May 6, 2017, by Zee Media. The video reported that Bukhari met Tiwari after an attack that took place at the latter’s residence.

In the video, Bukhari says, ”He is my old friend and our friendship goes long back. As soon as I learnt he (Tiwari) was attacked, I decided to pay him a visit.”

In conclusion, the above information proves that it is an old image which has now re-surfaced on the internet to give out a false narrative.
