NewsMobile Editor-in-Chief advocates multi-pronged approach to deal with Naxalism

Date:

NewsMobile editor-in-chief, Saurabh Shukla on Tuesday advocated using a “multi-pronged approach” to fight Naxalism. In a debate on NewsX at prime-time, Shukla, when asked how to tackle the situation in Chhattisgarh where at least 25 CRPF jawans were killed in an ambush by Maoists on Monday, responded by strongly arguing in favour of using technology and using an iron-hand approach against terrorists.

“I don’t know why we have shied away from using technology. There are enough global technologies that we have at our disposal that we are not using for CRPF,” Shukla reiterated. “This is something we have to do immediately.”

Shukla also emphasised that “these people kill people. They are terrorists. (So) deal with them as terrorists.” He said that the government must ensure that no party defends them.

Backing the ‘multi-pronged approach”, he called for development and jobs for people who have been affected by the violence. “Create whatever rehabilitation schemes for the people who have been affected. Create jobs. Government has to find an effective approach which has to work on several levels, he reiterated.
