Nepal Airlines plane from Delhi suffers tyre burst

Kathmandu, Sept 13 (PTI) Some 150 passengers, includingNepal’s Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat, today had someanxious moments when the tyre of an aircraft of Nepal Airlinesburst and the plane suffered minor damage while landing at theTribhuvan International Airport here. A rear tire of the flight from Delhi to Kathmandu burstand the country’s only international airport has been closedafter the plane got stuck at runway. All flights in and out of Tribhuvan International Airport(TIA) were halted for an hour after a tyre of Nepal AirlinesCorporation Airbus A320 burst during landing, Kathmandu Postreported. Minister Mahat was returning home after completing histwo-day official visit to India to set the stage for upcomingtrip of Prime Minister Prachanda from Thursday. The plane suffered a minor damage after the landing gearwas detached. The tyre burst also caused some damage on the runway. All the passengers onboard the plane are safe and havebeen shifted to the airport terminal. Airport sources said they are trying to cart the jet tothe parking-way from the runway. The 158-seater plane named Lumbini was fully occupied,sources said. PTI NSA AKJNSA
