NDTV calls CBI raids a “Witch Hunt”

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday registered a case against Co-Founder and Executive Co-Chairperson of NDTV, Prannoy Roy, his wife Radhika Roy, a private company and others for causing an alleged loss to a bank.

The CBI said that searches are being conducted today at four places including Delhi and Dehradun.CBI sources said that the case has been registered for causing an alleged loss of Rs. 48 crore to ICICI bank.

According to the statement by NDTV, The CBI raids were been conducted in NDTV premises and house of the promoters without any preliminary enquiry. It’s purely a political attack from the ruling party NDTV alleges.

NDTV also claims that all the loans have been clearly paid to ICICI bank and moreover ICICI Bank.

No matter how much the politicians attack us – We will not give up the fight for freedom and the independence of media in India.

Earlier in 2013, NDTV was in a similar controversy when Sanjay Dutt, the director of Quantum Securities P Ltd, a longtime shareholder of NDTV and a former consultant to the channel claimed that RRPR, the holding company whose shares were used as a collateral with ICICI Bank was not only fishy but its set up is highly questionable, according to the reports.
