Minority Affairs Ministry extends deadline for submission of

scholarship New Delhi, Aug 19, (PTI) The government has decided toextend the deadline for online submission of applications bystudents from minority communities for availing pre-matric andpost-matric scholarships for the year 2016-17 till September30. This is for the second time that the Minority AffairsMinistry has extended the deadline. Earlier, the Ministry hadextended last date for submitting the applications till August31 from July 31. "The decision has been taken this keeping in mind, alarge number of requests and suggestions received from peopleacross the country regarding extending the deadline," astatement quoted Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs(Independent Charge) Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi as saying. The aim of offering scholarships at pre-matric level isto encourage parents from the communities to send theirchildren to schools and lighten their financial burden onschool education, the statement reads. Similarly, the objective behind giving post-matricscholarship is to award meritorious students from economicallyweaker sections of minority community so as to provide thembetter opportunities for higher education, it said.
