Los Angeles: In a shocking incident, at least 10 people have been killed and another 10 injured in a mass shooting in the city of Monterey Park in the US state of California on Saturday night, the Los Angeles Times reported citing a law enforcement source.
According to Reuters, the incident happened after 10 pm around the celebrations of the Chinese Lunar New Year held in Monterey Park.
According to a LA Times report, tens of thousands had gathered on Saturday for the start of a two-day festival, one of the largest Lunar New Year events in the region.
Earlier in the day, people were enjoying skewers and shopping for Chinese food and jewellery. The New Year festivities were scheduled from 10 am to 9 pm.
The videos that have surfaced on social media showed the presence of police and fire units on Garvey Avenue and treating victims. Injured people were moved to multiple hospitals in the region.
