Masaan leaves Taslima Nasreen speechless

Date:

After getting rave reviews internationally and bagging two awards at 68th Festival De Cannes, Masaan has wooed its Indian audience as well. The movie, which received a five-minute-long standing ovation from the jury members at Cannes, has left everyone awestruck.

After garnering applause from critics and audience alike at home, Masaan has succeeded to impress Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen, who has showered praises for the debut director Neeraj Ghaywan’s award winning flick.

The 52-year-old author took to Twitter and lauded Ghaywan, saying she “didn’t have high hopes” from Hindi movies, but ‘Masaan’ surprised her.”

“I didn’t have high hopes about Hindi movies as most of them were musical melodrama. But ‘Masaan’ made me speechless. I salute Neeraj Ghaywan,” she tweeted.

The director replied, “Overwhelmed! Thank you so much!”

“Big heroes of Bollywood should learn how to act from young actors of Masaan,” she wrote later.

The Varanasi-set movie, which stars Richa Chadha, Sanjay Mishra, Shweta Tripathi and Vicky Kaushal, revolves around a bunch of characters trying to escape their small town moralities.

Produced by Drishyam Films, Phantom Films, Macassar Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, ‘Masaan’ was released on July 24.
