Lover strangulates married woman, hangs himself

New Delhi, Sep 1 (PTI) A 25-year-old man allegedly triedto strangulate a married woman whom he was in love with andlater committed suicide by hanging himself in East Delhi areatoday, police said. The 30-year-old woman has been hospitalised and is in acritical condition, they said. Ajay, who used to work as a labourer, had been in lovewith the woman for the past three-four months, police said. Police said the woman’s husband had asked both of them tonot meet or talk but Ajay kept coming to their home inGhazipur. Today, Ajay came to the woman’s house at around 11.30 amwhen her husband and five-year-old child were away. They hadan argument and in a fit of rage, he strangulated her andlater hanged himself, said DCP (East) Rishi Pal Singh. Neighbours saw the unconscious woman lying on the floorthrough a window and made a PCR call. The woman’s brother has alleged Ajay tried to kill hissister, added the officer. The woman wanted to end the relationship since there waspressure from her family but Ajay wasn’t listening, policesaid. However, since the woman is in a critical condition,the police doesn’t know the exact cause of their argument. The woman is admitted to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital andher condition is stated to be critical, added the officer. A case under section 307 IPC (attempt to murder) has beenregistered at Ghazipur police station and furtherinvestigation is underway. PTI SLB TIR RGTIR
