The second day of IPL auction saw some surprising picks and some great ones as well. Jaydev Unadkat was the biggest gainer before the audition was closed for the year.
The fortunes have changed drastically for left arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat, who was picked at a mere 30 lakhs in last audition. The second highest wicket taker in last IPL, fetched a massive deal of INR 11.5 crore making him the costliest Indian at this auction. Andrew Tye also invited a winning bid of INR 7.2 crore from Kings XI Punjab.
It proved third time lucky for Chris Gayle, as he was finally picked up at his base price of INR 2 crore by Kings XI Punjab. It was such a happy moment that everyone in the auction room clapped to celebrate the deal.

Unadkat beat KL Rahul and Manish Pandey who bagged Rs 11 crore contracts on the opening day of the auction on Saturday. Rahul was sold to Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), while SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) picked up Pandey. Unadkat is the second most expensive buy this year after England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who was also bought by Rajasthan for Rs 12.50 crore.
Earlier in the day, Rajasthan picked up Karnataka all-rounder K Gowtham for Rs 6.20 crore, paying 31 times his base price of Rs 20 lakh. Gowtham was Rajasthan’s first buy on Day 2 of the auction.
JP Duminy returned to Mumbai Indians. Mohit Sharma was bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 2.4 crore but Kings XI Punjab used their RTM to get him back and Preity Zinta appeared very pleased with this RTM.
Mohammad Nabi, second biggest name from Afghanistan after Rashid Khan, was sold to old employers Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 1 crore.
The big-hitting Ben Cutting was sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 2.2 crore. Corey Anderson and Moises Henriques surprisingly went unsold.
Saurabh Tiwary also returned to Mumbai Indians for Rs 80 lakh.
Kolkata Knight Riders used up all their resources while Kings XI Punjab were left with just 10 lakh.
