IUML legislator booked for provocative speech

Kozhikode, Sep 3 (PTI) A case was registered againstIndian Union Muslim League MLA Parakkal Abdulla for his recentspeech allegedly calling for a retaliatory attack againstparty worker Muhammad Aslam’s murder, police said. Kuttiyadi MLA Abdulla was booked under IPC section 505(1)(b) (…whereby any person may be induced to commit anoffence against the state or the public tranquility),Nadapuram Sub-inspector Abhilash said. The case was registered on a complaint lodged by DYFINadapuram block president T Abheesh to the district police, hesaid. The MLA had allegedly made the controversial remarks at ameeting of Kerala Muslim Cultural Center, an organisationof Kerala expatriates, held in a Gulf country recently. "As it is a non-cognizable offence, we have to get thesanction of the Magistrate. We moved the complaint forsanction and got it now from the Judicial First ClassMagistrate, Nadapuram and registered a case," Abhilash said. "Investigation is going on and based on which furtheraction would be taken", he said.
