Irony! Alok Nath to play judge in a film based on #MeToo movement

After the MeToo movement gained momentum in India, Alok Nath was one of the personalities that were accused of sexual harassment and misconduct.

According to reports, Alok Nath is featuring in a film called ‘Main Bhi’ which is directed by Nasir Khan. The actor will be seen playing a judge and will have a strong take on sexual harassment in the movie. While talking to the publication, he said, ‘I’m not doing any films at the moment. This was something I shot for a while ago. Is there a problem? You sound sad that I’m doing a film’.

Writer and Director Vinta Nanda filed an FIR against him for raping her 19 years ago. But the actor was later granted an anticipatory bail after a court session.

News of Nath acting in a film about sexual harassment has created a stir.

The Mumbai Police had filed a case against Nath based on Nanda’s complaint, following which he was expelled by Cine and TV Artistes Association (CIN-TAA), after he failed to show up for a meeting called by the film-body, regarding the allegations.

Following the allegations Nanda levelled against Nath, other actresses such as Sandhya Mridul, Deepika Amin and Himani Shivpuri also came out with their own similar and traumatic experiences with Nath, where they all accused him of sexual assault. However, Nath had denied all these charges.
