Indiaspora’s DiasporaNEXT Highlights Young Indian-Origin Social Entrepreneurs, Check Event Details Here

Date:

Indiaspora, a nonprofit community of global Indian leaders from diverse backgrounds and professions, released today their list recognizing young Indian-origin entrepreneurs from across the globe, who are creating social impact and change through their companies.

The DiasporaNEXT Social Entrepreneurs List is composed of young entrepreneurs who run for-profit businesses with social causes. The list aims to celebrate young entrepreneurs whose companies are addressing issues such as access to healthcare, quality education, water and sanitation, arts and culture, food insecurity, and employability.

“The honorees on this list are a true inspiration. Their work today is paving the road for the future generation of social entrepreneurs” said Indiaspora’s Executive Director, Sanjeev Joshipura. “These leaders are playing an active role in providing sustainable solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.”

With guidance from ten jurors, who are established entrepreneurs, business leaders and venture capitalists from each region featured on the list, and drawing from multiple sources, including reputed studies, earlier verified lists, and publicly shared documents, DiasporaNEXT’s Social Entrepreneur List recognizes young Indian-origin entrepreneurs for their work and the positive social change it brings along with it.

“Some of the greatest challenges we face are driven by lack of access and lack of opportunity,” said list honoree Alwar Pillai, co-founder and CEO of Fable. “I started Fable with Abid [Virani] to change that, and ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, can participate in, contribute to, and help shape society. Indiaspora’s support of Social Entrepreneurs and solutions like Fable demonstrates their commitment to solving the most impactful problems and a shared vision of an equitable digital future.”

With more than 32 million people of Indian origin globally, according to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, Indians are the largest diaspora population in the world. DiasporaNEXT’s Social Entrepreneurs List includes Indian-origin entrepreneurs from India and from geographies with significant diaspora migration, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia.

“I am truly grateful for being one of the people featured on this audacious list.” said friend of Indiaspora and list honoree Anto Philip, co-founder and CEO of Under25. “It is moments like these that make the journey all the more meaningful. I have had the chance of being a part of the Indiaspora community over the last year and the power of true communities such as this empowers young people like me to continue to dream bigger with a sense of belonging and togetherness. This reminds me of why it’s just the beginning and there is so much more to do.”

Indiaspora’s DiasporaNEXT initiative aims to build a community, a network, for young entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs of Indian-origin to help bring their ideas and aspirations to center stage. Indiaspora calls on any young Indian-origin entrepreneurs to reach out if they are interested in being a part of the DiasporaNEXT network.

“We are delighted to be launching the DiasporaNEXT Social Entrepreneurs List to highlight the amazing and impactful work that the younger generation of Indians and the Indian Diaspora are doing,” said Indiaspora’s Senior Coordinator of Marketing and Communications, Raka Mukherjee. “We applaud these individuals for choosing to pursue social entrepreneurship and make a difference in people’s lives through their work.”

The DiasporaNEXT Social Entrepreneurs List is a follow-up to Indiaspora’s existing List projects, which include a Business Leaders List, Government Leaders List, and Philanthropy Leaders List so far, all of which have gotten great coverage in the media and garnered much interest among the Indian community, the global diaspora and more.

The full list of honorees and additional resources will be live on December 6, 2022, along with the virtual event.
