New Delhi: Indian Women boxers script history at the Women’s World Boxing Championship on Thursday as all four boxers including Nitu Ghanghas, Nikhat Zareen, Lovlina Borgohain, and Saweety Boora storm into the finals of the tournament in different categories.
Indian Boxer Lovlina Borgohain overpowered China’s Li Qian with a 4-1 split verdict in the semi finals securing a spot in the 75-kg category finals at the tournament.
Boxer Saweety Boora won her semifinal bout against Emma Sue Greentree of Australia to enter the final with a 4-3 win.
Nikhat Zareen out-punched Rio Olympics bronze medalist Ingrit Valencia of Columbia by 5-0. According to reports, Champion Nikhat used speed to outrun her opponent, continuing the fight to defend her title.
Earlier today, Nitu Ghanghas advanced to the final after beating Kazakhstan’s Alua Balkibekova by a split victory in the 48kg category.
