Grenade blast at NPF MLA’s residence in Manipur

Imphal, Aug 29 (PTI) Unidentified persons today hurled aChinese-made hand grenade at the residence of an MLA fromManipur’s Imphal West district, a senior police officer said. The residence of Samuel Risom, Dewlahland MLA, wasattacked at around 1 am, but there was no report of anycasualty, police said, adding that the building and a carparked inside were damaged. Risom (45) had been elected from Ukhrul assemblyconstituency in the last elections on Naga People’s Front(NPF) ticket, but tendered his resignation along with threeother NPF MLAs in the wake of tribal movement against thepassing of Inner Line Permit System Bills last year. However, the Speaker of Manipur assembly has not yetaccepted the resignation. An inquiry to ascertain the identity of the attackers hasbeen initiated, the officer said. PTI COR SUSMRJ
