Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Satya Pal Malik dissolved the assembly on Wednesday after former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and People’s Conference leader Sajad Lone and staked claim to form the government in J&K.

Mehbooba Mufti, earlier, in a tweet said that the PDP is staking claim to form government in Jammu and Kashmir with the help of Congress and National Conference. In her letter, she states that their combined strength in the Assembly is 56, with PDP having 29 seats, NC 15 seats and Congress 12 seats.

Prior to this, PDP has confirmed that it has held meetings with the National Conference and Congress, and they are set to join hands to form a government in the state.
The leader of Opposition and Congress spokesperson, Ghulam Nabi Azad said,” I said this afternoon also that it’s a suggestion & no final decision has been taken yet (on PDP-NC-Congress alliance). BJP dissolved the assembly even though only a proposal was made.”
Jammu and Kashmir has been under Governor’s rule ever since Mehbooba Mufti quit as CM in June.
