New Delhi: The press box at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium was on Wednesday found in an unbelievable mess with dead rats and feathers of dead pigeons lying around, just 18 days after an ODI was held at the venue.
The media, which came to cover the Duleep Trophy, to their horror found out the dead rats with blood stains, feathers of dead pigeons scattered around, giving it a horrible look.
To add these was the stinking smell, rejected copper wires that lay all around making people look in disbelief that only on October 11, an ODI was played here with media in full attendance. But, after the ODI, between India and the West Indies, none of the DDCA officials bothered to check the condition of the media facility.
Even one of the commentators said that he was appalled to see that the stairway towards commentary box was “stinking like hell†and he had to tell one of the stadium staff to clean it up.
When DDCA Vice-President Chetan Chouhan was asked about it, he said, “It’s Sneh Bansal’s (DDCA President) department. He is in charge of giving stadium clean-up contracts. Heard that company has been changed.â€
DDCA media cell head Ravi Jain, who later supervised a clean-up job, said “DDCA will take stern action against the company which got contract to do clean up job.â€
