Fatehpur Sikri in Agra to be world-class tourist destination

Date:

Fatehpur Sikri of Agra will be developed into a major tourist hotspot very soon on the lines of the Taj Mahal. The announcement was made by Dinesh Sharma, the Deputy Chief Minister about development.

In an announcement made in front of the media, he said that the district magistrate and chief development officer have already been informed and instructed to carry out a survey and bring out a report of the issues and solutions that need to be brought out for Fatehpur Sikri to emerge as a world-class tourist destination.

Located around 40 kilometres from Agra, the monument has also been recognised as world heritage site by the UNESCO. Also known as the City of Victory, the site was built in towards the end of the 16th century by Emperor Akbar and was also acclaimed as the new capital of the Mughal empire.

Although Fatehpur Sikri boasts of a vivacious building, sandstone arches, and courtyards exhibiting designs from different religions, the tourism rate has reduced by a certain level, and if the deserved attention is given to the city, Fatehpur Sikri could be a busy tourist spot across the world.
