Fast & Furioius 7 enters 100-cr club in India

Date:

Mumbai: ‘Fast & Furious 7’ has become the first Hollywood movie in India to gross Rs 100 crore in record time, Universal India said in a release.

The 7th installment of the franchise, which marked late Paul Walker’s last silver screen appearance, took the highest opening weekend collection and has now grossed 100 crore in 2800 screens across the country.

The movie, which stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Michelle Rodriguez in lead roles, was released in 2D, 3D and IMAX format on April 2 in India.

The reason behind the movie minting 100 cores in box office was due to its wide release – over 2800 screens in India.

“There’s a vast potential for Hollywood movies in the regions beyond the metros and mini-metros in India,” Sarabjit Singh, General Manager, Universal Pictures India, said in a statement.

Jurassic World, the latest installment of the Jurassic Park series, from Universal Pictures India, is the next release in India.

The movie will hit Indian theatres in June in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
