Fact Checked: Sundar Pichai did NOT cast his vote in TN this elections; here’s the truth

Date:

The Indian elections are underway and 95 parliamentary constituencies went to poll in the second phase on 18 April 2019.

While the voting was underway, a picture started making rounds on social media claiming that Google CEO Sundar Pichai has casted his vote in Tamil Nadu.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile team fact-checked the claim, we found out that is false.

When we put the image through Google reverse search, we found out that the image is from 2017.

The picture was posted by Sundar Pichai himself in 2017. “Also got to visit my alma mater (and old dorm room!) for the first time in 23 years. Thanks to everyone @IITKgp for the warm welcome!” the caption read.

Moreover, he is now a US citizen and according to the current rule, he is not eligible to vote in India.

This proves that the viral message is fake.
