Ensure better implementation of projects: Khattar to officials

Chandigarh, Aug 20 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister ManoharLal Khattar today directed all Deputy Commissioners andSuperintendents of Police to work as a team to ensure betterimplementation of developmental projects and redressingpeople’s grievances. He was presiding over the conference of deputyCommissioners and superintendents of police here today, anofficial release said. The Chief Minister said "though the progress of alldepartments have been quite satisfactory, yet there was a needto speed up the ongoing developmental projects in the state asit would not only be beneficial for the people but alsostrengthen the administrative system". He directed them to lay more emphasis on the speedyimplementation of new initiatives by the government. While referring to the complaints against the newlyelected panches and sarpanches regarding fake educationalqualification certificates, Khattar asked the deputycommissioners to verify their documents at the earliest. He said it has come to his notice that about 72 suchcomplaints have been lying pending. The Chief Minister, while taking cognisance of thecomplaints concerning deducting high premium by the banksunderthe Pradhan Mandtri Fasal Bima Yojan, directed deputycommissioners to constitute a team of officers at districtlevel to "randomly visit" at least ten bank branches in theirrespective districts to cross-check the allegations. The deputy commissioners would submit their report to theadditional chief secretary, agriculture, he said. Khattar asked officials to become more proactive towardsthe scheme and popularise it for ensuing better crops. As many as 6.45 lakh farmers have been so far coveredunder the scheme. With a view to decrease the number of road accidentsin the state, the Chief Minister directed officials toidentify the accident-prone areas and take preventivemeasures. Khattar also directed the Director General of Police (DGP)K P Singh to set up separate cell for investigation andregistration of complaints. On this, Singh apprised the Chief Minister thattraining has been imparted to the staff and separate deskswould be set up in front of the police stations by next week.He said there is a proper law and order situation in thestate, the statement quoted him as saying. ‘Operation Sanjay’ has been launched under which 1.50lakh CCTV cameras would be installed at various locations inthe state by December 31, 2016, it said.
