Dog analogy first, conditional apology later?

Date:

Another motormouth in the party has landed BJP in trouble. MoS External Affairs General (Retd.) VK Singh has stirred a fresh controversy with his remarks over the Dalit killings in Ballabhgarh on October 22.

In a bizarre analogy, he compared the Dalit killings with dog being stoned. He had reportedly said if someone throws stones at a dog, the government is not responsible. He went on to say that it had become customary for the Centre to be blamed for everything negative that happens in the country.

Soon after his remark, Singh had drawn flak from across the nation for his statement and the Congress has demanded his resignation. A case has also been slapped against him under Prevention of Atrocities on Scheduled Caste Act Section 3 and 4.

After the outrage Singh went onto damage control mode and clarified his statements later saying, “the agenda of India is bigger than any single neighbourhood or individual and that no one must be allowed to exploit our diversity by blowing up localized issues out of proportion.”

But his apology seems have done no good in containing the faux pas that has turned into a nation wide outrage now.

Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh has issued a strict warning saying that the ministers should excercise contraint before speaking and one should be very careful while expressing views on any issue.

“We cannot get away by saying that statement was misinterpreted,” Rajnath Singh added.

Meanwhile, Police has registered a case against VK Singh for his controversial remarks.

Reactions from across the nation are pouring thick and fast on twitter:

Two children of a Dalit family were burnt alive and their parents suffered injuries allegedly after their house was set on fire while they were sleeping at Sunped village on the outskirts of Delhi.

Seven people have been arrested in connection with the case so far and three policemen have also been suspended for dereliction of duty.
