Date:

New Delhi: Winter is here and so are car discounts. As the hatchback segment is one of the largest in the Indian automobile industry, car makers are on a discounting spree to clear out stocks. Car manufacturers, battling an inventory pile-up, are further egging on consumers by saying “industry discounts are at an all-time high”.

This limited period offer includes cash discount, loyalty bonus, exchange bonus and corporate discounts. So, if you planning to pick up a car with the chunky year-end discounts, here are 6 hatchbacks that you can opt for.

Maruti Suzuki Alto 800

Maruti Suzuki has established itself as a household name in India with its highly affordable cars and Alto is the one that holds the record for highest sold cars in India.

Alto, which got a complete makeover recently, is offering a discount of Rs 55,000 on its bestselling car, the Alto 800. This budget offering on Maruti Suzuki’s lowest priced car is available in CNG and petrol options.

Powered by a 796cc, 3 cylinder petrol engine, the Alto 800 price range starts at Rs 2.38 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi and it also offers the newly launched Alto K10 AMT, which is a slightly higher priced than the normal version.

Ford Figo

At one point of time, the Ford Figo hatchback was the American automaker’s bread and butter car in the Indian market. And since then it has come a long way to win lot of customer hearts in India.

With the next generation, 2015 Figo due for a launch, Ford India is offering a discount of Rs 68,000 on its exiting model, where it plans to get enough cars sold in its showroom floors, before the new version launch happens. The existing model is sold with petrol and turbo diesel engines with both using 5 speed manual transmissions.

Renault Pulse Diesel

Renault is running a splendid offering on the Pulse hatchback. The French automaker is offering the diesel powered RxL variant of the Pulse at the same price of its equivalent petrol variant. To be more specific, the diesel powered Pulse gets a massive discount of Rs 1 lakh, which makes it highly affordable, especially considering the fact that the Pulse Diesel gets some top of the line features like ABS and EBD.

Powered by a superb 1.5 liter K9K turbo diesel engine, the Pulse is also available with a 1.2 liter-3 cylinder petrol engine.

Chevrolet

Termed as the ‘Chevrolet Blockbuster’, discounts and schemes are applicable on Chevrolet including the seven-seater Chevrolet Enjoy MPV which gets benefits up to Rs 83,000. The recently launched Chevrolet Sail sedan and hatchback are also a part of this discount scheme with benefits up to Rs 55,000.

Besides these, the Chevrolet Tavera carries benefits of up to Rs 55,000, the Chevrolet Cruze gets up to Rs 60,000 and the smallest offering Chevrolet Spark gets up to Rs 68,000 benefits. The Chevrolet Captiva SUV is, however, exempted from this offer.

Toyota Etios Cross

The Etios Cross is one among crossover-styled hatchbacks that has been constantly knocking the doors of customers with its promising bookings. In terms of offerings, the Japanese auto maker is offering an attractive Rs 47,000 discount on its hatchback, which is mostly based on its b-segment car Liva.

Like the Liva hatchback, the Etios Cross is available with petrol and turbo diesel engine options. And the car sports a crossover type body cladding and bumper inserts intended to give it a butch look.

Mercedes Benz A and B-Class

With an intension of clearing stocks, Mercedes Benz India has lined up a whooping Rs 2-lakh discount on the A-Class and B-Class car models. Although the A-Class is the sportier of the duo, and was mainly aimed at young audience, the car didn’t seem to attract the younger generation so far.

The A-Class and B-Class hatchbacks come with turbo petrol and turbo diesel engine options. Both the cars use Mercedes Benz’s MFA platform and are the least priced cars bearing the three pointed star that money can buy in India.
