Did BJP candidate from Kalayat weigh and distribute liquor? Here’s the truth

Date:

A picture of a woman sitting on a weighing scale is being shared online with a claim that she is the BJP candidate from Kalayat and she was weighed against liquor and the same liquor was distributed amongst the voters.

“कलायत क्षेत्र की बीजेपी प्रत्याशी को शराब में तोलकर वही शराब युवाओं को पिलाई गई
ऐसे राष्ट्रवादियों युवाओं को नेक रास्ते पर चलाएंगे😡😡” the text read.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the picture, we found the claim to be false.

First, we found that the BJP candidate in the upcoming Assembly polls from Kalayat constituency is Kamlesh Dhanda and she is the same woman in the picture.

We then ran a search on YouTube using keywords ‘तोलकर कमलेश ढांडा’ and found a video by Total TV Haryana dated October 6, 2019. In the video she can be clearly seen being weighed.

But, according to the report, she was being weighed against ‘Laddu’ (sweets) while she was campaigning for the Haryana Assembly Elections and not liquor.

Hence, the above information proves that the claim attached to the video is fake.
