Happy B’Day Dhanush! The actor who entered the film industry at the age of 16 has turned a year older today. He made his debut with the film titled, Thulluvadho Ilamai, directed by his father, Kasthuri Raja and there has been no looking back ever since. Do you know that Dhanush is not the actual name of the Tamil star? When he entered the film industry, he had to change his actual name (Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raja) as he shared it with several famous Tamil actors such as Prabhu Deva and Ilaya Thilagam Prabhu, and thus decided to become Dhanush (he picked the name after watching Kurudipunal, which featured a covert mission – operation Dhanush).

We’re sure all of you have heard ‘Kolaveri Di’ sung by this Tamil star. But, do you know who wrote the lyrics of this chartbuster? Well, you guess it right. Dhanush wrote the lyrics in just 6 minutes. Woaaah! By the way, the song went on to become the most searched video in India and on YouTube.
Unlike many of us today, Dhanush did not want to enter the film industry. (Thank God, he did). He wanted to pursue Hotel Management and become a chef. According to an interview, Dhanush was heard saying that he did not want to become an actor; he even cried and threw tantrums to avoid becoming one but nothing worked in his favour.

Do you know that Dhanush is a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva to such an extent that he has even named both his sons after Lord Shiva. His eldest son is named, Yatra, which means pilgrimage and he has named his second son, Linga, after the Shiva Linga. Though Dhanush does not believe in idol worship, he believes in energy. Shiva is a form of energy, to him.
