Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Announces Rs 10,000 Aid To Flood-Affected Families

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced financial assistance for all families affected by the floods. He stated that the government would provide Rs. 10,000 as financial aid to each affected family.

CM Kejriwal took to Twitter to announce that the Delhi government will extend support to low-income families living along the banks of the Yamuna river, who have suffered the loss of their entire household belongings due to the floods. He stated that each affected family would receive ten thousand rupees in financial aid.

“Many very poor families living on the banks of Yamuna have suffered a lot. In some families, the entire household goods were washed away. Ten thousand rupees per family will be given as financial help to every flood-affected family,” tweeted CM Kejriwal.

Additionally, CM Kejriwal revealed that special camps would be set up to assist individuals who lost important documents like Aadhaar cards in the floods. Furthermore, for children who have lost their clothes and books, schools will provide these essential items as a support measure.

“Special camps will be organised for those whose papers like Aadhaar cards etc. have been washed away. The children whose clothes and books were washed away, will be given these on behalf of the schools,” added Kejriwal.

Earlier, the Delhi government announced the closure of both government and private schools in flood-affected districts on July 17 and July 18.

“In view of flood relief camps likely to continue to run in schools in the areas bordering the river Yamuna, all Govt., Govt. Aided & Private recognised schools in the affected Districts of DoE – East, North East, North West-A, North, Central & South East-will remain closed for students on 17th & 18th July,” stated the Delhi government

Waterlogging persisted in key roads and nearby areas of the national capital due to fresh showers. The Yamuna River, meanwhile, continued to flood, with the water level reaching the danger level of 205.98 metres by 9 a.m. on Sunday.

The national capital experienced severe flooding in recent days as the water levels of the Yamuna River reached an unprecedented high of 208.08 metres, prompting an extreme flood alert. As a result, numerous individuals residing along the banks of the Yamuna were evacuated to ensure their safety.
