COVID Updates: India Logs 2,380 New Cases And 56 Deaths In Last 24 Hours

New Delhi: The spike in the number of COVID cases continues on Thursday with 2,380 new positive cases recorded in the last 24 hours. The active caseload stands at 13,433 COVID-related cases.

Punjab Government in an order mandated the wearing of masks in crowded places.

According to the order, the government of Punjab mandates the wearing of masks in public transport and public places like cinema halls, shopping malls, schools, office rooms, and public gatherings.

Delhi on Wednesday observed a jump in the number of daily cases which crossed the 1000 mark with 1,008 new COVID cases recorded in 24 hours.

West Bengal recorded 48 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours. The death toll remains unchanged.

Telangana recorded a total of 20 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours which includes 14 cases from Hyderabad.

Schools will continue to function in the national capital amid the recent spike in cases. Standard Operating Procedures will be issued separately for schools.

Tamil Nadu recorded 27 new COVID-related cases in the last 24 hours.

Global Updates

The Global COVID caseload topped the 507 million mark on Thursday with a death toll surge to 6.20 million according to John Hopkins University.

According to reports, the United States Justice Department will be moving to court to overturn the order that allowed people to travel in public transport without masks.

Italy recorded 99,848 COVID cases on Wednesday with the death toll rising from 127 to 205 in a day.

Hong Kong to ease down COVID-related restrictions amid a drop in the number of cases in the past few days.

According to reports, Queensland recorded 9,281 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours.
