CISF chief takes Delhi Metro ride; reviews security

\ New Delhi, Oct 27 (PTI) CISF chief O P Singh today took a\Delhi Metro ride and reviewed security arrangements in the\wake of heightened vigil in such public places due to the\ongoing festive season.\ The Director General (DG) of the paramilitary force\travelled from the Race Course station to the heavy footfall\receiving Rajiv Chowk on the Yellow Line, during which he also\interacted with commuters, including women travellers.\ Singh, accompanied by senior officials led by Delhi Metro\Deputy Inspector General Raghubir Lal, inspected the bomb\detection squads, canine teams, Quick Reaction Teams, women\commando units, electronic and CCTV surveillance and\functioning of special operation groups in the rapid railetwork that caters on an average to over 25 lakh commuters\per day.\ The DG directed his officials to deploy additional\resources and remain alert to ensure security and hassle-free\travel for the commuters during the ongoing festive season and\Diwali at the end of this week, officials said.\ They also said he was also briefed about the foot patrol\and intelligence paraphernalia of the force deployed to secure\over 150 stations in the National Capital Region that includes\Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurgaon.\ Singh, who has recently taken over the top charge of the\force, also interacted with women travellers. They requested\him to increase the number of uniformed and plainclothes women\commandos (Alpha teams) and also to ensure better queue\management at busy stations.\ He also asked the CISF security \\’morchas\\’ (posts) at the\stations to be kept fortified, equipped and alert, they said.\ The security apparatus at Delhi Metro, apart from other\vital facilities, is on high alert following the surgical\strikes conducted by the Army last month across the Line of\Control.
