Central India will witness above normal rainfall: IMD

New Delhi, Aug 18 (PTI) Many parts of Central India willwitness above normal rainfall activity and there will beincrease in precipitation in northwest India, the IndiaMeteorological Department today said. In its extended forecast up to September 3, the IMD saidthere will be below normal rainfall activity in many parts ofeast and northeast India. "Above normal rainfall activity is likely over many partsof central India till August 29 and near normal thereafter.There will be increase in rainfall activity likely overnorthwest India from August 25 on wards. "Below normal rainfall is likely over many parts of eastand northeast India during August 20-29 and above normalrainfall likely thereafter. There will be increase in rainfallactivity likely over Peninsular India from last week of Auguston wards," the IMD said. From June 1 to August 17, the rainfall deficiency hasremained on zero. Barring east and northeast India, there hasbeen fair distribution of rainfall in central, northwest andsouthern peninsula. PTI PRRG
