Cabin crew help deliver baby at 42,000 feet

The crew of Turkish Airlines helped deliver a baby girl on flight at 42,000 feet on Sunday. Passengers on board welcomed this unexpected guest when Nafi Diaby, 28 weeks pregnant, went into labour mid-flight.

The flight was on way from Conakry to Istanbul via Ouagadougou. The airlines issued a statement praising the crew on board. “The cabin crew noticed that a woman passenger named Nafi Diaby, 28 weeks into her pregnancy, was suffering childbirth pains,” it said. “They promptly responded to assist her childbirth during the flight,” it added.

The BBC reported that the woman and infant were later admitted to a hospital in Burkino Faso. The baby was named Kadiju.
