22 people, 2 buses and several other vehicles were reported missing as a bridge collapsed on Mumbai Goa Highway.
This British-era was built across the Savitri River, close the town of Mahad, in Konkan region.
These were 2 parallel bridges, 84 kms from Mumbai, old one going from Goa to Mumbai has collapsed.
The incident took place around 11.30 pm on Tuesday.
Three NDRF teams, Indian Coast Guard helicopters are carrying out rescue operations.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, said “Administration rushed to spot for rescue and immediate measures.”
Experts think that the prime reason behind the collapse is the heavy rains in the catchment of Mahabaleshwar.
