BBMP raids and seals 13 illegal slaughter houses in Bengaluru

Date:

Bengaluru: The Marshals of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) with the assistance provided by the police sealed 13 illegal slaughter houses on Tannery Road, situated in 3 different wards on Thursday. The details were released by BBMP on Friday.
The wards that were associated with this raid were the following: Ward 31 (Kushaal Nagar), Ward 47 (Devara Jeevanahalli) and Ward 48 (Muneshwara Nagar).

BBMP said that these illegal slaughter houses had built houses and were operating the business from inside. This was done to give a false impression to the municipal authorities.
Upon raiding these establishments, the Marshals found animal skin and remains stewed all around.

The BBMP sanitation workers had warned the municipal body of the presence of animal body parts while cleaning the streets. The raid happened as a result of this tip off.
These illegal establishments functioned under the cover of darkness and mostly worked at night to avoid detection.

As the news of the raid spread, the owners of these establishments escaped.
These 13 illegal slaughter houses have now been sealed by the municipal authorities.
