Gandhinagar: UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon on Sunday called for working towards a better and sustainable world which would benefit every country.
“This dynamic state has long been a cultural crossover to the world. Today, it can also be a crossroad for a new era of sustainable development,” Ban Ki-Moon said at the three-day 7th Vibrant Gujarat Summit that began here on Sunday
“You are here to not only build industrial strength but sustainable inclusive solutions. Let us work together for a better and sustainable world where nobody will be left behind,” he added.
Invoking the importance of land of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth, Moon said: ” I sincerely hope, all world and business leaders and people will be inspired by Gandhi’s visions and teaching.â€
“I commend Prime Minister Modi’s smart cities initiative and vision of use of renewable energy efficiently,” he said adding, “Gujarat is a state where technology meets climate action, where entrepreneur meet clear energy, where young people meet job opportunities.â€
Earlier in the day, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel said that Gujarat is committed towards making the ‘Make in India’ campaign a success and added that the state is going to be a trendsetter in the campaign.
Around 50,000 delegates from India and 1,800 others from 105 countries are said to be participating in it.
