In a press release, Venugopal conveyed the development, highlighting that Maken replaces Pawan Kumar Bansal, who served as interim treasurer following the demise of Ahmed Patel.
Venugopal expressed appreciation for the contributions of the outgoing treasurer, Bansal.
Significantly, Maken, a trusted ally of Rahul Gandhi, had been without a formal position since stepping down as the Congress general secretary overseeing Rajasthan a few months ago.
In response to this development, Maken expressed gratitude to party president Mallikarjun Kharge and the high command for the appointment.
He said, “I learned about this after the screening committee meeting concluded. I extend my thanks to party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi for offering me this opportunity and demonstrating their trust in me.”
