A shocking case of gang-rape has emerged involving the chairperson of the Sirohi Municipal Council in Rajasthan, Mahendra Mevada, and the former municipal council Commissioner, Mahendra Choudhary.
Nearly 20 women accused them of sexual assault under the pretext of employment opportunities in Anganwadi. The ordeal unfolded when a woman from Pali district stepped forward to report the harrowing experiences endured by herself and others.
According to the complainant, the accused enticed them with promises of jobs, only to subject them to horrific acts of gang-rape. Later blackmail the victims by threatening to share the footage on social media unless the victims paid hefty sums of money – a demand of Rs five lakh each.
The complainant reported that she, along with other women, travelled to Sirohi a few months back to engage in Anganwadi work. During their stay, they were offered lodging and meals by the accused. However, she claimed that the meals provided to them allegedly contained sedatives.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Paras Choudhary, asserted that the women had lodged a baseless complaint before. However, the Rajasthan High Court intervened, directing the registration of a case following a petition submitted by eight women.
